Nau Mai Haere Mai - Welcome to our website

We are a group of people on the autism spectrum who meet up twice a month in the Wellington region. This group is about creating connections with people like us. Our ages range from school leavers to retirees.

Like a river, we grow strong when we come together and are free to be ourselves.

We meet generally meet twice a month to socialise however the group wants to. That could be games, crafting, or just to talk.

We also encourage meets outside of our monthly catch ups. This could be a movie, mini golf, a walk along the beach or bowling. If it’s a special interest of yours, you might be surprised and find others here have that same interest.

Group Guidelines

We are a group of autistic people who get together to socialise and play games and it is important that we have a safe non-judgemental space for our meetups.

This means that we:

Give people space and let them share what they want to and when they want to
Please respect people's privacy and don't pressure them to share personal information
Remember that everyone experiences autism differently
Do not make assumptions about what autism is like for someone else
Avoid sensitive topics
To help keep the group a safe and welcoming space for everyone, please avoid discussing politics, religion, and other topics that are likely to cause conflict or make others feel uncomfortable during meetups
Ask support people to step back
Our group is for autistic adults who can participate independently. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to support you. However, we ask them to remember that they are here to support only and not to participate in group activities
Keep the volume down
Sound travels, and people may be sensitive to loud noises
Are respectful and kind to others
Everyone needs to be respectful and kind to others and in case of any misunderstanding or concerns, please talk to one of the group leaders. Be mindful of the language you use
If a participant's behaviour is significantly affecting the safety or wellbeing of the group, the group leaders may need to consider whether the group remains the right fit for them. Any concerns will be discussed with the participant (and, where appropriate, their support person) before any decision is made. Our priority is to maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where everyone can participate and enjoy the group.
